Khmer

U+1780 – U+17FF   (6016–6143)

The Khmer range was introduced with version 3.0 of the Unicode Standard. Khmer is an Austro-Asiatic language, and is the script and language of Cambodia. The Khmer script has also been used for writing Pali and Sanskrit, and appears to have been the inspiration for Thai. More information about Khmer Unicode can be found at Maurice Bauhahn’s FAQ and Resources on Khmer in Unicode Web site. Additional symbols can be found in the Khmer Symbols range.

The characters that appear in the first column of the following table depend on the browser that you are using, the fonts installed on your computer, and the browser options you have chosen that determine the fonts used to display particular character sets, encodings or languages.

Microsoft Windows incorporates support for Khmer Unicode from Windows Vista onwards.

You can find some or all of the characters in this range in the Windows Unicode fonts CDT Khmer, Code2000, DaunPenh, Khmer OS, Khmer OS Fasthand, Khmer OS Freehand, Khmer OS Metal Chrieng, Khmer OS Muol, Khmer OS System, Kh-SrokKhleang, .Mondulkiri U GR 1.5, MoolBoran, PhnomPenh OT and Sun-ExtA.

To see exactly which characters are included in a particular font, you can use a utility such as Andrew West’s BabelMap, or WunderMoosen’s FontChecker.

If you are not familiar with the characters, you can check the characters displayed here with the graphical display at http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U1780.pdf.
