The Ogham range was introduced with version 3.0 of the Unicode Standard. Ogham is an ancient Irish writing system in which the characters were arranged along or across a continuous line or the edge of a stone. You can find out more about Ogham at the Every Ogham thing on the Web site, and see some Unicode Ogham samples on the TITUS Web site.
Microsoft Windows incorporates support for Ogham Unicode from Windows 7 onwards.
An Ogham keyboard layout for Mac OS X 10 is available from Everson Typography: Ogham Keyboard for Mac OS X.
The characters that appear in the first column of the following table depend on the browser that you are using, the fonts installed on your computer, and the browser options you have chosen that determine the fonts used to display particular character sets, encodings or languages.
You can find some or all of the characters in this range in the Windows Unicode fonts Aboriginal Serif, ALPHABETUM Unicode, BabelStone Ogham, BabelStone Ogham Bound, BabelStone Ogham Fixed, BabelStone Ogham Stemless, Caslon, Code2000, DejaVu Sans, DejaVu Sans Condensed, EversonMono, Fixedsys Excelsior, Marin, Quivira, Segoe UI Symbol (in Windows 7), Sun-ExtA and TITUS Cyberbit Basic; in the Macintosh OS X Unicode fonts Beith-Luis-Nion, Beth-Luis-Nion, Cog, Craobh Ruadh, Crosta, Everson Mono Ogham, Maigh Nuad, Pollach, Ragnarok Ogham and TITUS Ogham; and in the Unix Unicode fonts Caslon and ClearlyU.
To see exactly which characters are included in a particular font, you can use a utility such as Andrew West’s BabelMap, or WunderMoosen’s FontChecker.
